Most are ill-designed and poorly checked for compatibility. If you have *exactly* the same system and software as the person who designed the application, it will most likely work. Otherwise, don't bet on it.

Expecting the applicant to do all the clerical work involved in the process is just another way of forcing someone to do the work for free, instead of hiring enough people to do the amount of work which needs to be done.
