I had absolutely no compunction about nursing my kid in public. When I was pregnant, I discovered a website for making nursing clothes, www.elizabethlee.com, bought a few patterns, and made outfits to wear at work (so I could pump in an office) and swim suits. I nursed in planes, trains, boats, cars, malls, halls but not a restroom stall.

Now that my nursing days are long over, I fully support women who breastfeed in public. Call me a retired lactivist!

As for the "modesty" aspect, whose business is it when a woman's nipple inadvertently gets exposed? After all, as my kid would say, it's a "milk port" and not a sexual object....
