12. LOL There ya go! Improvised medicine!
Had a dog that got her hide ripped open but not even the sheath covering muscle involved. 40 miles in a raging blizzard not possible. Called the vet. He asked if I had sheared her hair or if it was still long (the latter). Said to carefully trim and remove hair directly around the ripped flesh, lift the hide to make sure there was no debris, irrigate with sterile water, give a good squirt of neosporin in the wound then tie strands of her hair to pull the skin together.

He asked if I had any antibotic syrup for my young daughter and said to give the dog a couple doses of that. (We had MDs in town, just no vet - I could get the syrup easy ;)

Worked like a charm. Had to really hunt for the scar when she would get her hair cut four times a year.
