Hmmmmm... interesting. "The Incident" was a re-make of a 1963 NBC production, "Ride With Terror," in which Musante played the same character, Joe Ferrone. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0213196/

I have to wonder if Bel Kaufman saw that before or as she wrote "Up the Down Staircase," in which the school's bad boy was named Joe Ferone.
