WHY do I feel guilty about calling in sick to work today (laid off on May 1st)?

I am feigning a "stomach problem" today in order to stay home with my dogs & cats. It is storming out right now quite fiercely & I just don't want to shove the dogs out in the pouring rain & lightning. I do not have anything to do at work today, was just going in to put in the hours. I am being laid off on May 1st permanently (good thing for me) and I am allowed seven sick days a year. I've been there eighteen years and can count the sick days I've taken on one hand so damn it, I am going to stay home today.
