That same Constitution protects the right of the people to own common firearms for lawful purposes.

As interpreted, that right is recognized as belonging to mentally competent adults with clean records, and it is currently limited to non-automatic, non-sound-suppressed civilian firearms under .51 caliber, plus larger-caliber shotguns and some high-caliber hunting rifles.
