A robber entered a South Fayette gun shop just after it opened this morning and shot an employee before fleeing.

John Lukachak, 64, is in Allegheny General Hospital after he was shot in the left hand and upper shoulder, with the bullet lodging in a large muscle in his back. Despite the wounds, Mr. Lukachak is in good condition and in "high spirits," South Fayette Police Chief Louis Volle said this afternoon.

Mr. Lukachak was shot at 10:05 a.m. inside Federal Firearms on Thoms Run Road.

The robber was described as a white male in his 50s, 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-7, 150 to 160 pounds, with gray hair and goatee. He was wearing a soft, green, Army-style field cap.

Majority of gun shop workers I see openly carry in shop except at a big store like Cabelas.
