stepped up to the plate and joined us on something, then okay. I tend to want to give Chuck Hagel in the Senate a little breathing room from time to time, myself. Besides, his staffers are all extremely courteous and friendly, even to one (like me) who calls in to register a comment from the opposition.

This is an intriguing one. There are some, like Bob Barr, one of the great assholes of our recent past, who's now hounding this White House for its abuses of power and infringements on our privacy. He's sidled straight up to the ACLU, no less. Some of these boomerang back around, actually in our favor. Then again, they still need to be watched with eyes of hungry lions.

There are some others, however, for whom I've got anvils, no questions asked, no wiggle-room allowed.
