As a child of Capitol Hill (way back when, but I keep in touch from afar),
I'm well aware of the unmentioned (and unwanted) hidden rules of the game
of that place, as well as the fact that many members of Congress are forced
to bite their tongues when the thing they would most like to do is shout
their rage from the highest mountain top.

Nonetheless, as Rep. Stark has finally dared to say on the floor of the House
what so many of us were thirsting to hear for SO long, I thought for sure that
more members of Congress, at least of our party, would dare to speak out in
support. I also expected more than virtual silence from the House leadership,
no matter WHAT kind of egg shells they are forced to walk on as part of the
realities of their situation.

Therefore, I passed on your letter, in its entirety, to a friend high up in
the DNC who has (only slightly!) more time than Howard to read it. He is in
touch with Howard daily (with me, it's more like once a month), and he is a
better shot at spreading this around than I am. Howard will see it--I don't know
if he'll read it, but the people just under him will. I don't usually do this, but
this time, even my disappointment is reaching the breaking point.
