It is a noteworthy number precisely because it is not representative of what people have been saying to date. Hillary got 70+% of the white vote. It is reasonable to conclude that many whites in Louisiana aren't ready for a black president. I am from the deep south and used to live on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi.
I walked into a parts store one day and out of the blue, not knowing me at all, the white, middle aged store clerk (I think he was the owner actually) asked me if I was going to the "big event" that weekend. I asked what he was talking about and he replied that "at the fairgrounds they're going to lay 20 ni###rs side by side and attempt to jump over them with a bulldozer". He thought that was great humor. I don't know his political orientation as I didn't speak with him further.

I have repeatedly butted heads with an aunt that insists whites aren't descended from apes, but that blacks clearly are. In all seriousness she points to dark human skin and black primate fur and says that is "proof". I kid you not. She was a Dem until the day she died 2 years ago.

Bigotry is alive and well and it isn't limited to the Republican party. I'm NOT accusing Hillary of attracting racists for any reason other than the color of her skin. It is just that if a person is a committed Dem, and a racists, where else are they going to be lurking.

For the record, I also know a lot of people from the south that haven't got a racist bone in their body, and I'm sure many of them also support Hillary.
