31. One of my greatest memories
is of working as a volunteer when Clinton came to Cleveland to announce his economic reform package. (He loves Cleveland and came here for a lot of events).

I'd already read the plan and knew it was a good one, but so many in the news media, and some Dems too, were pooh-poohing it. The MSM was harping on it so bad, everyone was afraid to praise it.

I thought he needed a good send off when he announced it. I was assigned to work behind the video camera riser in the back of the hotel ballroom, to keep people from climbing on during the speech and making the cameras wobble. All the print guys from Time, Newsweek, etc. were sitting there. As Clinton gave his speech and made key points about the plan, he would get lukewarm applause. So I began clapping and cheering at the applause lines. No one could see me because I was behind the riser (except the newspaper guys who made a smart ass remark - "how much are they paying you to do that?"). I kept cheering and the crowd caught on and started applauding louder. When Clinton got to the good parts of the plan, I gave a couple of Ozark style whoops. After that it was standing O's.

Just my little story about how I helped Bill sell his first economic plan.
