Soaring oratory is a good beginning. Given the current era of bumper sticker rhetoric and associated mentality along with non-solutions one-liner zingers, many people are willing to step up to say enough is enough. Powerful speeches delivered well are useful tools of a leader.

First and foremost Mr Obama is _not_ a Republican. He is a member of the Democratic wing of the corporate establishment party. Perhaps you and Buve do not recognize that 'being left' (as defined be conservatives) is the right place to be because that is where the vast majority of the people of USA are.

As for "debates" between the candidates, the difference on the issues that are important to the people will be clear. The candidate from the GOP has had to go so far right to pander to the Conservative base that the candidate from the Democratic Party will easily be able to handle him/her self.
