He acknowledged that he did not do a good job of expressing his intent/idea. He has come forward to flesh out the context of his comments. He has not shrunk away from what he said or the ideas behind it. He has actually tried to have an adult conversation about the issues raised.

He did not attack the woman that posted the tape (no Macaca moments here). He did not deny the words or the event they occurred at.

There are some (two come to mind) that have acted like middle schoolers telling you that someone has called you "stinky breath" after you ate heavily garliced spaghetti for lunch. You can be a realist and recognize that someone noticed halitosis or you can rant "how dare you" that you have been offended. Obama has handled this like an adult, hope more of us follow his lead.
