but I got the impression that some of his ads already slipped into negative territory towards the end of the race.

So, he's already crossed that line in some sense. On the other hand, you did not see him making speeches railing against Clinton on divisive wedge issues. I hope he will continue to maintain the high road as much as possible, but he may need to rely on judicious use of negativity as he did in PA.

The race will be over after May 6, so I hope he will maintain his dignity as best as possible. That is a core part of his appeal.
