He has a sophisticated understanding of the Middle East and I would find him very much a pragmatist and realist on foreign policy; perhaps in an old-style conservative sort of way -- but this is a lot safer than the mad men of the neoconservative movement and their equivalents in the Democratic Party.

On social issues, well yes that's another matter.
