17. I gotta tell yah, I'll have a problem in November.
I'll want to protect the Federal bench, reproductive choice, restore taxes on the rich, support the environment, education and labor. On the other hand, I am not kidding when I say I don't believe O is ready for the job. The job of president is basically the store manager for the country. The whole "issues" thing belongs mostly to Congress. I have to say that if I were not aware of McC's conservative voting record, he would be sounding pretty good right about now. The next president will essentially end the war in Iraq, so frankly that is a non issue. As far as promoting peace and justice in the world, I refer you to an old Vulcan proverb: only Nixon can go to China. (You can decide whether "Nixon" refers to McC or HC.) I support the party (to the extent that there even is one), not the other way around, so I don't feel I owe anyone my vote. I will really need to think about it.

Of the three candidates, one has the ability to turn this economy around. We can't do anything without that. The R.'s have wrecked the national treasury to such a degree that we can't do much even if the economy does improve.

The cross-over voters who have been supporting BO especially in caucus states will not support him in the fall. Many of the true-blue D. supporters who have been alienated by many of O's hateful and rabid fans will not be quick to forgive that. Frankly, based on what I know about this country and my 25 years as a D. activist, I am resigned to the eventuality than an O nomination will mean a McC victory in November. So, come 3/5, if HC doesn't salvage her campaign, then I'm out. I cannot in good conscience donate a dime to Obama.
