Because for those who were shy about sharing their own thoughts that Obama got where he is by being black, they can now feel validated now that those statements are reverberated throughout the media. In fact, they've been validated so much, that people feel free on DU to express that Obama is where he is because he is black.

:sarcasm:

And now that the cat is out of the bag, I can remind people of some quotes:

4/15/1988: "if Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn't be in the race."

last week: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color), he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

today: "Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," Ferraro said. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

(I guess she is a victim of racism because she is white while he is a beneficiary of racism because he is black).

===============

Anyway, electorally, this was extremely smart (if one is cynical) because let's face it there are more women than there are black people. If they can just get women to vote for Hillary, that outnumbers the black folks that vote for Obama and if you suggest to white people that they are being too easy on Obama out of white guilt, then some of them might vote along with the women.

I mean, if it's all about getting people to take sides and having more people on your side than your opponent, then pitting whites against blacks is a winner everytime.

I'm not saying that's what HRC's campaign is doing, but damned if it doesn't help her a hell of a lot more than it helps them --that is if one believes that white people and black people prefer to vote their own race.

I'm mad as hell.
