I think that if more people got out and went to events such as this, there might be less sniping here.

Kind of reminds me of the rivalry between the Oregon Ducks' and the Washington Husky football fans. To listen to some of the Husky fans call into the local sports station (I'm a Ducks fan, living in Husky country), you'd think that the Oregon fans were a bunch of drooling, snarling animals. When I'm in Oregon, I hear some of the same kinds of things about Husky fans. But when I go to the games (either here or in Oregon) when the Ducks are playing the Husky's, I don't really see any of that. I see fans of both teams, talking, sharing meals, the losing team's fans congratulating the winning team's fans, and some good-natured joshing between the two factions. There have been isolated incidences of bad behavior from both camps, but overall, it's a good rivalry. But if I only listened to the radio, and got my idea of how these fans act only from that source, I'd never go to a game. I'd be afraid I'd be putting my life in danger.
