16. Letter from a dkos member to Sen. Ted Kennedy (written almost 2 weeks ago):
Dear Senator Kennedy:

I am mystified by at least two recent cases in which Senator Clinton has invoked your brother's 1968 California victory as an example of how things can change in a presidential election. While my mind jumps to the most sickening possible interpretation, I can't know what is in Senator Clinton's heart.

Please takes steps -- either public or private -- to ask Senator Clinton to stop engaging in what, at the very least, amounts to exploitation of your brother's memory. Despite the cryptic nature of what she's saying, there's something chilling about her words.

As a college student, I used to keep a couple of long passages from your brother's 1968 speeches taped to the wall of my room, near my desk. They inspired me and made me believe in the potential of our country in a way that I have not experienced anew since this 2008 campaign.

Despite the history and hoopla of this moment, your brother and his words remain an inspiration -- even to those of us whose lifetimes never overlapped with his. Let's not let anybody cheapen that. You and your family -- both the Kennedys who have endorsed Senator Obama and those who have endorsed Senator Clinton -- are in a unique position to insist that Senator Clinton sift through history to find some different way of making whatever point it is she's trying to make.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

David

Also, these were Clinton's comments made on 4/25 in WV:

The full context quote:
"But I also think it's still early, I mean everybody is so focused on where we are right now, I, I, guess I remember in June of '92 that's when Bill really wrapped up the nomination, the middle of June after the California primary. Um, You know, I remember very well what happened in the California primary in 1968 as Sen. Kennedy won that primary. I mean, we traditionally have gone longer and there isn't any problem in closing ranks..."
