Just received this email from DVO this morning:
The Primary Election

Something powerful and marvelous is stirring among citizen-voters all across America at this moment. I know I don't have to convince you that it is happening. You know it is happening. You can feel it, touch it, taste it, smell it, see it, and hear it.

After seven years of the most pernicious, mean-spirited, people-hating, Constitution-hating presidency in the history of our Republic; after seven years of open season on our democracy at the hands of Robber Barons and Constitution Thieves; after seven years of the steady supplanting of our Republic with a would-be Empire; after seven years of steady deterioration of our living standards and our Bill of Rights; after seven years of the unabated reign of greed; after seven years of watching truth fall victim to the incessant pursuit of power, the great mass of the people of our great country have just plain had enough.

Grassroots people across America, whether they are Democrats, Republicans, Independents, or uncategorized, have had enough of the politics of power grabbing and they want to take their country back...

...The old saying, "As Texas goes so goes the Nation", is about to rise again. In these throngs besieging the early voting sites, the people, regardless of which specific candidates they are voting for, are having their say and they are saying they want their country back.

In the setting of this marvelous outpouring of citizen-voters taking matters into their own hands, I hope you don't mind if I share some recommendations with you in a few of the contested primary races.

Barack Obama for President

My first choice was Al Gore, but he didn't run. My next choice was John Edwards, but he dropped out. After carefully scrutinizing both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, I have come to the decision to support Barack Obama for President of the United States. MORE >>

Susan Criss for Texas Supreme Court, Place 8

This one presents an embarrassment of riches for Texas Democratic Primary voters. Two outstanding jurists are contesting for the Democratic nomination to unseat Corporate Republican Phil Johnson in Place 8 on the Texas Supreme Court in the general election. I have known both Democratic nomination candidates for a number of years and am a friend to both.

You can't vote for both candidates; you will have to make a choice. My choice, and the choice I respectfully recommend to you, is District Judge Susan Criss of Galveston. MORE >>

Dale Henry for Railroad Commissioner

I have previously presented my support for Dale Henry for the Railroad Commission in these pages.

To summarize, Dale Henry is the best choice for the Democratic nomination to unseat Corporate Republican Michael Williams in the general election, because Dale Henry has a lifetime of professional experience in the oil and gas industry, he knows the industry and its laws and regulations, he knows the big boys' tricks and games, and he is a true populist who is on a mission to make the Railroad Commission work to protect the environment and the economic health of consumers and small businesses, instead of being a handmaiden for the big energy corporations and lobbyists as it is now. MORE >>

Glenn Melancon for U.S. Representative, 4th Congressional District of Texas

Glenn Melancon gave the Republican Corporate toady Ralph Hall a spirited run for the money two years ago. Glenn is a vigorous campaigner with good communication skills, a sophisticated understanding of populist politics and Texas political history, and a mission to go to Congress to fight the robber barons on behalf of the people.

The 4th District is a Tom DeLay-gerrymandered district cutting across soil that has been represented in the U.S. House by storied Texas populists like Sam Rayburn and Wright Patman. Glenn will carry on in the same proud East Texas tradition of political representatives who look after the interests of working people first and foremost. MORE >>
