It is hard to know who are the biggest bunch of hypocrites in this situation. The fake shock and horror expressed by the press over Moss's drug use is just laughable. There was a ridiculous piece in the Daily Mail today where they visited a number of celebrity venues and tested their toilets for traces of cocaine. Needless, to say evidence of the drug were found at every location. Of course, what they failed to mention is that a similar exercise carried out in most of the offices of the leading national newspapers would have turned up identical results. By the same token the view common among celebrities that taking illegal Class A drugs is little more than a lifestyle choice, which they are entitled to keep private, is also a joke. No such privilege seems to be applied to people engaged in criminal activities in other fields. Indeed, poorer drug users do not have the luxury of Moss's millions to pay for their habits so sooner or later they nearly all end up doing serious time in prison. Although the authorities are huffing and puffing about prosecuting Moss, you can be sure that her lawyers will ensure that the worse she experiences is a fine and some time in rehabilitation.
