I don't think gays are the ONLY minority that it's ok to make steryotypical comments about. I hear jokes and comments about women all the time that would never be acceptable to say about people of a different race. It's all about who we are and what we are most sensitive to.

On the other hand, humor is the best way of making a subject no longer "taboo." So if straight people need to make stupid jokes in order to feel comfortable talking about gays, then maybe it's at least opening them up to conversation. Although I recognize that some people tell jokes just to be mean and will never change.
