Reply #9: The Opus Dei is becoming more powerful everyday

In south america, the old guard that fought the liberation theology during most of the right wing dictatorships has pretty much reappeared inside the Opus Dei.

There are lots of small group, loosely interconnected among themselves and with the OD that are fighting the liberalization of many laws and starting to fight many of the left governments elected lately.

In my home country the OD has been fighting the possible legalization of abortion with tooth and nail. We have a very, very strict separation of church and state. They are also attacking that, specially the fact that public schools are strictly secular.
