Suspended 7 times for substance abuse, the poster child for drug abuse in baseball in the pre-steroid era. Killed in an auto accident. His car left the road, and he was ejected (wear your seat belts). Transcends sports. A fabulous talent, but a tragic story. Sorry to be a downer.
