As an involved activist, I regularly take the opportunity to share my views of the dangers presented to our democracy by the Neocons.
I have spoken to many people over the past year about the various crimes committed and outright abuses of the Constitution that are so well known to us here at DU. Few if any seem to really care enough to get involved or do anything about it. There is an astonishing amount of apathy in our populace. It is quite shocking.
It seems that most people are so rapped up in their daily activities that they cannot find the time or lack the inclination to do their own homework. They want someone to spoon feed them what they need to know and oftentimes rely on the mainstream media to be the source of that information.
My strong belief is that no democracy can thrive without an independent and objective fourth estate that is willing to aggressively challenge the words and deeds of its elected officials. Until such time as we truly have unbiased news reporting from our major media we are destined to have a populace cloaked in ignorance and largely apathetic.
