4. Here's the thing....
I can't answer your question about the current state of the cockpit doors but...

The airlines could have prevented these attacks...they bitched and griped about how much it would cost to reinforce the doors 20 years ago.

You see one of the first US hijackings occurred in Seattle I believe 20 years ago. At that time it was an American citizen who took a gun on a plane and went into the cockpit and fought with the pilot and copilot, the copilote was killed and the hijacker was killed.

The FAA didn't make it mandatory for the Airlines to reinforce the cockpit doors. They left it to the Airlines to make the decision to take action or not. Obviously as a result we got Sept 11 because they didn't want to spend money putting a steel bar on the doors.

So my whole point is the Airlines should have never been bailed out after Sept 11. They should have been allowed to fail for making poor busines decisions.
