...which the next president will probably have to do seeing as how Bush is going to just "stay the course" till the end of his term.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of Repukes deciding NOT to run in 08, instead hoping to bide their time till 2012. They figure the Repukes are in bad shape to hold onto the Presidency in 2008, anyway, and they also hope Iraq will get sorted out resolved one way or the other in time for it not to be much of a factor for a run in 2012.

EDIT TO ADD: McCain is the only one who will run for sure because he's already 65 now and there's no tomorrow for him.
