People don't want to look like a nutcase, so it is easier to make yourself out to be someone of "logic" rather than question the "official" story. Anyone involved in a conspiracy is banking on the "logical" people to cover their ass.

As you stated, many "wild conspiracy theories" have come to light many years after the fact. Also, the term "conspiracy" has become equivalent to "wacky theory", but there are conspiracies going on all the time and they all aren't about assassinations.

Once again, it is better to stay safe and try to look like a logical thinker than someone who questions weird "coincidences".

I personally don't think there was anything "dark" about Sen Johnson, but I won't laugh at people for asking questions.
