32. OUTSTANDING! No wonder Bush thinks "bloggers" are terrorists (LINKS:)
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x420629
thread title (2-14-06 GD): Bush Tags Bloggers As Terrorists
Comment/excerpt: “Homeland Security completed its ‘Cyber Storm’ wargame to test how our government ‘would respond to devastating attacks over the Internet from anti-globalization activists, underground hackers and bloggers.’ Given that homeland security ran the ‘wargame,’ one may infer that the nature of the attacks by bloggers must be national security related. And, given that the major national security fear of our government is terrorists, then it looks like bloggers have made our government’s hit list of potential terrorists.”

There is a DU thead on the extremely important BBC article on revealed program of the Pentagon "fighting the internet," but the excerpt given in the OP does not capture the true extent of the issue. The document was written by Pentagon officials in 2003 and Rumsfeld signed it. A pdf file to a copy of the document is linked to on the BBC page with the article. I urge all of you to read this ENTIRE ARTICLE. I'll be posting on it (again) in the next few days.:

US plans to 'fight the net' revealed

A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks.
By Adam Brookes
BBC Pentagon correspondent

From influencing public opinion through new media to designing "computer network attack" weapons, the US military is learning to fight an electronic war.

The declassified document is called "Information Operations Roadmap". It was obtained by the National Security Archive at George Washington University using the Freedom of Information Act.

(snip)

US forces should be able to "disrupt or destroy the full spectrum of globally emerging communications systems, sensors, and weapons systems dependent on the electromagnetic spectrum".

(snip)

The US military seeks the capability to knock out every telephone, every networked computer, every radar system on the planet.

Earlier DU thread on this:

thread title (1-28-06): 1-28-06 US plans to 'fight the net' revealed (Pentagon psyops on Americans!)
This older thread concentrated on the psyops part of the program, which is certainly awful enough, but we need to realize that our lifeline through the Bushie propaganda and to each other is threatened.

This incident with the disappearing beer shows yet again how the US corporate media censor and distort and lie to cement the Bushies' rule. MSNBC has already been shown to be directly involved in deliberately seeking to sway voters:

thread title (2-8-06 GD-P): MSNBC Producer/Matthews/Scarborough Getting Paid to Influence Voting
Comment/excerpt: “MSNBC senior producer Mike Tirone is speaking on a $279 per listener conference call on Feburary 16. The title of the call is "How to Reach Masses of Conservative Voters with Your Cause, Policy or Political Message." Kind of transparent on its face what that call's about….So now we have senior MSNBC employees training conservative activists in how to use MSNBC to reach conservative voters. Nice. Though, I'm curious how that squares with Federal Election law.
