With all this very cold weather, pay attention to safety.

Aside from dressing warmly and making certain you don't spend too much time out in dangerously low temperature, please check for safety around your house. My daughter just called this morning and told me that they had a long and scary night. They live in a ranch style home with an attached garage. Late last night she went out to the garage to retrieve something from storage and thought she smelled gas. She got her husband to check also and he confirmed it wasn't her imagination and that he could smell it also. They woke up the kids and bundled them and took them to a neighbors. They called the emergency number and the police and fire department came over along with the gas company. The house was checked and a gas leak at the point where the pipe from the gas meter comes into their house was discovered. There was a crack in that section of PVC pipe and the general opinion was that the crack had to do with the extended period of cold weather. Now I'm not an expert on gas meters or how it should be piped into homes, but I wanted to put this out there FYI.
