55. And that didn't matter either
They still got a ton of votes. Reality doesn't matter, especially not with the GOP. If they'd accused him of humping the moon, they'd have gotten 48 votes. They'd get them today if the whip did his work.

This is what I've been saying. Party networks, interior alliances. THEY ARE THERE.

We can hate them, but if we really want the bodies to stop dropping, WE HAVE TO USE THEM. Or at least be aware of them, at minimum to save on stomach acid.

Why does a liberal Senator from Hawaii reliably vote with a rock-ribbed rightie Senator in Alaska. Akaka is the most reliable vote for the drilling of ANWR.

It took me a while when I was challenged with that, and I didn't get it until I was told, and then I went "ohhhhh."

They're both from non-contiguous states. They have similar needs. They vote together, tit for tat. Akaka would support a bill to poop on Chealse Clinton if it came from Alaska.

Seems clear when you see it. That's the simplest one.

It isn't about us feeling clean or dirty. Congress is a machine. It depends on how you work the clutch.
