21. I know what you're talking about
I deal with the same kind of idiocy on my local newspapers board. One freeper claims that America is in the rotten shape it is in because Democrats had a monopoly on power from the '40s to 1994. When I pointed out all of the repub prez's between those years and the years that the repubs controlled the senate and the house he thanked me for proving his point and now claims the monopoly ran from 1933 until 1994.

Another freeper type is constantly denying global warming, well there's lots of those actually, but he posted a witness from 15 years ago before a senate committee as proof that it wasn't happening. The witness was an MIT professor so I'm sure he felt secure in his point. Well I went to his link and got this professors name. It is Richard Lindzen, and I googled him. Come to find that Lindzen is in the pocket of OPEC and Exxon and earns $2500 a day consulting with oil companies. Before this he was a consultant with the tobacco companies denying the harmful effects of tobacco. I told this guy what his source was up to and he dismissed it as irrelevant.

Another global warming denier is always throwing out alternative theories to global warming but refuses to document any of them. I told him without documentation I have to assume it is only out of his head so it carries no weight. He said since I didn't research his alternative theories I had no leg to stand on. So one day I googled one of his theories, plate tectonics, and lo and behold it was put forth as a possible cause of global warming by one Richard Lindzen.

Another Freeper is arguing against universal health care because it isn't in the constitution. He asked where in the constitution does it say we can have universal health care. Another poster and I both responded with Article 1 section 8 and the sixteenth amendment. He dismissed that because that article and amendment do not specifically refer to health care.

These guys simply are incapable of rational thought or linear reasoning. I don't think that should be surprising to any of us. They have been demonstrating those deficiencies for some time now. Still it is frustrating.
