Is it so improbable that the main focus of this NSA surveillance was not terrorism, but political opposition? Everything else in this administration has been politicized, why should this be any different?
A vast net of warrantless wiretaps would serve as a great cover for the real objectives: to use the government's intelligence gathering apparatus to further the Republican political agendas. Does that strike anyone as far-fetched?
It might also explain why so many establishment Dems are afraid to challenge this administration.
