9. I taught special ed as a substitute, and the program they receive
is superior to that of "mainstream" classrooms as the kids learn when they are ready to understand the concepts, not according to a weekly progress planner that can't deviate from its schedule. On the whole, the kids are very happy and really like school.

The author of the e-mail is unaware of public schools, special education (which is state-mandated), or teachers' unions. If municipalities had their way, teachers would be making $15,000 per year, without benefits, and would have to pay for their own supplies. And the parents would have to send their kids to private schools at a greater cost as the best minds would not be teachers.
