instead of immediately assuming the worst and hurling accusations. A little civil conversation could not only clear up misunderstandings, but it might actually give people a chance to think more deeply about their views. (Although, I suppose that would be a drag for posters who live for hit and run snark.)

The reactionary pouncing going on here turns many of the threads into circle jerks, and wastes time and energy that could go into trying to understand differences of opinion.
