8. Try Democracy Now! or BBC World News
The top 10 minutes of DN! is the headlines. Amy Goodman is one of the best reporters/journalists going. Just the facts, ma'am. If you don't get LinkTV or Free Speech TV, check the DN! website for a local radio or PBS station that carries the show. They also stream it online at their site, and there are daily transcripts available as well.

BBC might be a bit harder to get if your sat/cable company don't carry it, but again it's well done and in depth.

Neither consider the hearing over the disposition of ANS's remains "Breaking News" or worthy of live feed, and neither will push the new laser comb for thinning hair as "news".
