Just think how much more of a "progressive populist" Edwards might look, once the actual Progressive Populist bows out...

Dastardly...just dastardly.

Seriously, I can't see it as merely ego. DK has a seriously progressive platform that his opponents have to address and his Congressional record is so exemplary that the other Democrats have to work that much harder to shine (but they don't actually 'shine'...) in comparison. For this reason alone, I believe he has been important to this race. His example, at least to me, exposes some candidates as the corporatist boot-lickers they truly are.
