The unemployment rate in Butte County was 7.4 percent in December 2007, up from 6.5 percent in November 2007, and above the year-ago estimate of 5.9 percent. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.9 percent for California and 4.8 percent for the nation during the same period.
