50. The law-abiding have always had that accessibility in most states.
It is only in the last few years that the gun-control lobby has been urging companies to enact "no guns in cars" policies enforced by searches, as a way to prevent licensed CHL holders from carrying before or after work, and a side effect is preventing someone from hunting or going to the range after work.

The Weyerhauser search was conducted on the first day of hunting season on purpose, IMO. Catching criminals certainly wasn't the motivation.
