in determining trajectory if they were using a handmade launcher), if it exploded, what specific damage it caused (helpful if the thing was home-made or a modified piece of old weaponry), what area of the base they hit, that sort of thing.

It's not just "past tense" that rules when it comes to OPSEC. Anything that gives the enemy an advantage applies. If he revealed ANYTHING that wasn't known about this incident, he's in violation.

It's why we have TS papers still under seal from WW2.

Don't rely on WIKIPEDIA for OPSEC justifications or appropriate security classifications. Everything's "situational." He clearly let "the enemy" know something that had some level of classification behind it.
