11. With malice towards none and charity towards all
Lincoln gives us a good example of what needs to be done to mend this nation after a time of great strife. He was interested in getting on with reconciliation because it was the best thing to do for the sake of the country. The Radical Republicans were bent on fanning anger and taking out their revenge--and so the wound of the Civil War still festers.
