8. Floridians (and residents of most other states) can already "take their guns to work"
if by that you mean, as the Brady Campaign does, having a gun secured in a locked car in the parking lot while you are working elsewhere. The new law you are thinking of only exempts those authorized by the state to carry a weapon from warrantless parking lot searches.

It was prompted by an incident at Weyerhauser in which the corporation conducted a warrantless search of cars in the parking lot on the first day of hunting season and fired everyone who either had a gun in the car, or refused to allow the corporation to search their vehicle.
