27. Borders aren't imaginary
They are real things that Americans have fought and died for. The United States is the only nation on the planet that doesn't take its borders seriously, and even that is a historical anomaly that is quickly dying.

On a very concrete level, I don't think you'd like it very much if we took your statement to its logical end, and opened up the borders to anyone who wanted to come here. What would happen, and quite quickly, is that the standard of living in the US would plunge to the average of its new population.
