are just making an envelope that their children will be almost required to push.
We didn't censor our language with our kid. What we did was explain that cuss words are JUST words, used in (what we thought) were appropriate circumstances. These words only become BAD if you allow it. George Carlin did a famous bit about cuss words, which I cannot remember (brainfart in progress).
The upshot? My kid has a reputation for NOT using cusswords unless called for. His understanding of their appropriateness is what we as parents wanted to instill. Now his fellow students at high school use the *F* word constantly. And the vast majority of them do it (yes,I've asked them myself) because their parents *didn't like it*.
language police cause more problems than they think. :shrug:
