7. I see a flaw in part of that argument.
He makes this claim in the article.

I agree many if not most soldiers would have found a way to fight the injustice at Abu Ghraib, they would have tried to find some way to stop what was sure to be a terrible event in American History, even if that attempt was just to get pictures out to the world, to stop those responsible.

But to free America from blame, we would have to say that those that advocated those policies are held accountable, instead we see them speaking on CNN like they are statesmen (Cheney).

If America, as a whole, is not responsible, then why do some Americans, elevate the people that openly admit to the actions, and why do the rest of Americans not hold those that did such things to account?

We do not have the luxury of saying we oppose something, as we ignore the crimes of those that supported those actions.
