and it is done when the girls are turning into adolescents. What happens to baby boys is bad enough, losing the foreskin and all. It really seems un-necessary. I read a book called the 'Secret of Joy' quite some time ago. It was about an African girl and it was very graphic about the pain and suffering. The story not only chronicled the removal of the clitoris and inner labia, but the outer lips were scraped on the inside and stuck together and the legs bound until the vulva was fused. Most of this is designed so that a man can rip them open when he penetrates a virgin. If the woman can actually give birth with out ripping clear to her anus, and survives she is some times nearly sewn shut again.

I heard an Egyptian Doctor trying to justify this practice as it was being done in his country. I'm not sure if the procedure is as complete and brutal or as primitive as having your female relatives grab you, hold you down and cut you up, so that you can always look like a little girl. Maybe they do it in a Dr's office with some anesthetic and it's elective so you will look 'neater' but this Dr. said it was for the husband, so he would be less likely to cheat and he would be happier with his wife.

And finally this leads me to talk about the designer lips fad, since we have all seen porn star vulva's. Most of them don't have a lot of fancy extras. They are plain, simple, and well manicured. Women have an option to have themselves modified these days. It's a choice I suppose. But it were to happen at all it should be because the women elects to have what ever fixed up a bit not to have her female anatomy completely removed so she can never feel any pleasure or never experience an orgasm. It's that damn Madonna/Whore complex, again. You can't be a virginal, motherly, wife material female and be able to be a fully functional woman. Women really have had a lot to over come in this world.
