Whichever side wins the presidential election results in a surge of the fringe on the other side. By the time the mid-terms are over, everything swings back to the middle. This is just history repeating itself over and over. If the right wants to pour all of their money into the fringe nut groups, more power to them. Ultimately it only hurts their cause as it permanently alienates many in the middle.
