7. That's why I stopped watching in 2004
I went cold turkey. I kicked the habit of tuning into the news during the dinner hour, switched over to The Simpsons, got the bobbleheads out of my living room and out of my life.

They're great at telling us where a candidate is traveling. They might even show us a photograph. They will never let us listen to what that candidate is saying, nor will they talk about any differences between the candidates unless it's a snarky remark made offhand when somebody was overtired.

Jon Stewart was right. They aren't simply incompetents who don't know how to do their jobs. They are hurting us.

The sooner we start to avoid them completely, get their babbling out of our heads, and concentrate on the few print media that tell us what the candidates themselves are saying, the sooner we'll have an informed electorate.

The more talking the blow dried bobbleheads on TV do, the less we are likely to learn about the issues facing this country. It's an inverse proportion that will not change until corporations rely on journalists rather than personalities and that is just about as likely as the Pope on a pogo stick.

Turn them off. You'll feel better in a remarkably few days.
