50. Lacking reading and writing skills
Means a lack in the education system somewhere.

I recognize that 50 years ago they didn't have the special ed knowledge they have today. Aside from that, and with the fact that colleges have special ed assistance as well, there is no reason that any student shouldn't be able to manage freshman level courses at a community college with the help a college will provide. There will be a point when it gets too difficult, and certainly not everybody can manage Stanford or Harvard, but a local community college, absolutely.

Has nothing to do with all kids being above average. It has to do with the way our education system is currently structured, which is to provide opportunity to everybody.
