here's what you are dealing with;

Folks who believe you to be the reincarnation of Kunta-Kin-te, the Mighty Malicious Mandingo,
Karl Marx, Adolf Hitler, Stalin, Napoleon and anyone else considered scary, murderous and
authoritative all rolled into one,
and that you are now in a place of power and getting ready to administer the Big-Payback.....
soon.

They believe that every crime committed by someone who is a minority, means that you are a criminal.
Same folks who when they think of OJ Simpson, somehow also think of you.
Those people that didn't believe you had a valid opinion in reference to Prof. Gates' arrest,
because hey, you kind of are Prof. Gates, more or...
less.


Folks who have decided to believe that at some point in their past,
they experienced a President who did exactly as they decided at the exact time that they
determined was the right time,
regardless of any context about....
anything.


You are not that kind of President (as one has never existed),
and so you are a failure in their eyes. After all, they have been demanding what they
wanted since last January, and if you check your watch, you are half past....
late.


These same folks decided that the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War are interchangeable,
and that anything said about the Iraq war can now be said about this war.
Fuck the fact that those New York Towers are no longer there,
but know that as far as they are concerned, if another attack happens,
it will be your fault, but that's then, and this is....
now.

These folks don't recall that all but one congressperson voted to put us in Afghanistan;
and so somehow, if you don't pull our troops out like yesterday, all of it is your fault,
cause it's your war, cause they say so, and you know they know....
and now you have disappointed these folks, who obviously didn't care enough about you
to have ever listened to what you were saying about Afghanistan on the campaign trail,
and to be frank, they won't listen now, cause they don't really care what you think,
if it's not what they think....
presently.

A media, who would probably relish if harm came to you,
cause that would be a big story to them, and they like that sort of stuff,
cause it would really give them something to do; reporting on the horrendous, tragic and shocking.
Of course, then, you would become the best President that ever was, although some will say,
you were only there for 10 months, and that wasn't long....
enough.

A media who one minute was supporting the Iraq war, pimping it literally,
while overlooking all of the fucked up things that Bush did and didn't do,
and the next minute, they have been on your ass,
like white on rice, about every fucking thing that you had said or done,
or not said or haven't done, or whatever....
fits.

Same Media who right now are "in"to publicizing how terrible the Afghanistan war is,
unless, of course if you decided to end that war too,
and then the Afghanistan War would become the most important war in the whole wide history of the fucking world,
and 9/11 would become a tragedy once again that requires you to keep it from happening ever again,
and Dick Cheney and his daughter would be shown on television each and every....
day.

A media that holds you to your promise to close Gitzmo, although they forget that congress cut your funding for it,
because what is important to them is that you didn't keep your promises...although at the same time,
the media have decided that 9/11 is important still, but only in New York,
in reference to the big bad terrorists who will have a trial there, and of course that's your fault.
Those terrorists (and yes, they are really you, and you are really them)
have decided to espouse their philosophy on the United States,
which we aren't supposed to be aware of, but who cares?
what matters is that this is your decision, and of course, as far as the media is concerned, it is a fucked up one....
anyway.

I just wanted you to know that yes, you are dealing with a lot of fucked up stuff,
and you have a lot of different personalities coming at you every hour of the day,
and most of them earnestly believe themselves to be much, much smarter, better read, braver,
bold and decisive, wise beyond their experience, and more clued in then you.
They are superior, and have seen it all, and done it all, and know it all.....
they say.

And then there are folks like me, and perhaps I may even be the only one....
currently.

We are the folk(s) that remember that we have never had a President in our lifetime (or in history) that did everything we wanted him to do; not even close, and not even in 4 years, let alone 10 months.

We are folk(s) who see the difference between Iraq and Afghanistan and refuse to mush the two wars together so we can have an excuse to give you a hard time in trying to come up with a way out,
without us tying your hands behind your back and pushing you onto the tightrope, and then jeering you every step of the way, with the media in tow, loving it, every step of the way.

We are also the folk(s) who don't believe that you are the reincarnation of terrible monsters,
nor do we think you are a corporatist thug who doesn't give a shit about the people.
We believe that you care, but that you are walking that fine line, with the media on your ass,
and everyone else who only reads the headlines and "Opinion pieces" cultivated to build negative sentiments against......
you.

We are watching what you do, but not trying to do so under a magnifying glass, cause that's not helpful to anyone, especially us.

We are the ones who appreciate the changes that you bring, understanding that this change is not all encompassing, and that it will be slow, difficult and requires us in the equation, but not necessarily always jabbing you with a stick.

and since we have 3 more years, we are willing to allow you to finesse this bunch of shit,
without commenting every fucking time you scratch your ass.

What we are not are the folks who live and die by polls, worry about the next election the day after the last one, or run around with our head in our hands cause our hair is on fire, or who don't have any faith in anything except for each and every headline and story that builds a case against you.

We are not the ones who one minute say you should stand for principle, and the next minute analyze everything that you said and do through a political prism. We are not in the "Wish it was Kucinich or Hillary or Howard Dean" crowd. We are not living in an unachievable past nor do we have our eyes closed while lamenting about a dark future.

We may not like everything you do, or even everything you say, but then, we weren't expecting to be in agreement with you round the clock. Of course, when you really piss us off, we get emails out to you, and we try to figure out an effective constructive way to make you better without attempting to publicly undermine you, because we know that you are who we will be working with for at least 3 more years.

We are your realistic supporters, and we are out there (although it may only be me).
